Embracing Wednesday

I love Wednesdays! I have intentionally kept them empty--no classes, no work--so I could have a catch-up day in the middle of the week. Sometimes it's filled with grocery shopping and laundry, dentist appointments and essential errands. But sometimes--oh the joy!--it's completely free. I love the delicious decisions--what should I do today before the kids come home from school? Shop for the still-needed furniture? Go to the plant nursery for fall flowers? Go on a walk? Laze around a bookstore or library and read for fun? Even (shhh...) go to a matinee movie?

I also have a little more time to stop and take a look around me. So, in the spirit of show and tell time I give you....my bedside table. I think a person's bedside says a lot about her...

7:17 a.m. & untidied bedside

Sam still asleep, Lauren just left, Maddy getting ready
wallpaper pre-existing but staying for now

sun streaming through the window to the left

Hummel figurine from my late grandmother Kathleen...
it was in her house and reminds me of her
black and white photo of Greg
sneaking a kiss on my forehead after our wedding

print from Hopper exhibit I went to with my mom
...it reminds me of long chats over dinner with friends

^
Sam wants me to read the Harry Potter series so much
the other night he came in with the stack for me
so sweet
scissors because I've been clipping out design photos
so I can save what I like and get rid of the stack
of magazines (unpictured) beside my bed

^
Prince Charles & Lady Diana plate from their wedding in 1981
{my grandparents brought it back from their trip to London}
feeds my anglophile tendencies
random earrings, rings
I always forget to take them off until I get into bed
a couple of foreign coins that remind me of good trips
I love my old-fashioned alarm clock
but I don't love it so much the moment it rings at 6 a.m.

Your mission, should you choose to accept: document a corner of your life that says a lot about you. (And then please let me know so I can come visit your show and tell.)

Update: Check out Emily's show and tell at Where the Wild Things Are. Thanks for playing along!

What a great idea. I love your little treasures. I think my bedside table would be so boring in comparison. I love how your home and decor seem to say so much about you. I will think about my spot in the house.....

B was right - that little corner DOES say a world about you. I love this idea and will totally be playing along soon. Yay!

You are so inspiring! I love the way you look at the world. My bedside table says a lot about me. Mainly it says that I am a slob who likes to read about 12 books at a time. I'm going to have to think about my corner, too! Great idea...

Oooh Annie, I'm thinking of ideas right now. That was such a fun peek into your life--wonderful.
