Anatomy of a family hike

Logan Utah
November 19
to Castle Rock
^
blue-skied
balmy November day
all confidence and enthusiasm
every kid was trash talking the parents
"Come on, hurry up!"
* * *
And then we hit the steep part
Note to self:
when given the choice,
take the less steep path
not the shorter but vertical climb
* * *
I won't name names
but there was pleading to turn back,
hikers frozen in spot
a little wailing
but we kept inching along...

^
Lauren was the first to reach the top

^
then Maddy joined her

^
Look at that gorgeous valley
I love my original homesweethome

^
Lauren enjoyed pushing the limits
of the rules
If we said "nobody goes past that ridge"
she managed to creep just beyond it
Shortly after this
I had to remove myself
so I wouldn't freak out

^
so I entertained myself taking
self portraits
since I never include myself
in the photos as the self-appointed
family photographer

^
this answers two questions:
why don't I include myself in photos?
and
why am I getting two vertical lines
engraved between my eyebrows?

^
hop aboard the hike train,

^
wave good bye to the mountain
and head back down
satisfied

LOVE the photo tour of your hike. So beautiful, and from the looks of things, quite warm? Nary a jacket to be found...how does that happen in Logan in November?

And yes, I second the "never in the photos" thing. I got home and uploaded all my pics from our weekend - I AM NOT IN ONE. ZERO. I didn't exist. It's pathethic.

P.S. And yes, you owe me a big email. I'll be watching for it.

P.S.S. Why didn't they have Idina sing in the movie? I kept waiting, all through the whole thing, patiently. What a shame to not use THAT voice. And yes, McDreamy was McDeliciousness. I might go see it again by myself just to enjoy his McYumminess.

I have also been noticing the same vertical lines. Is it because my face is in a perpetual scowl? Probably!

I'm so glad you met my dad! He's the best...

These photos were beautiful. I'm glad that you are in some, too!

Brave girl, taking close-ups of self. I love that beautiful face. And, by the way, the two vertical lines - you didn't get them from me. I specialize in the ONE vertical line that is extending downward and that I expect to continue on down until it meets up with my diminishing and descending cleavage.
Great narrative with the hike pictures. So wonderful to have you here! Every minute was sublime. Love, Ma
