Poor girl

Today the world is conspiring to make her miserable.

~All her friends are on vacation or at camp
~ She misses our other house with the red dining room
~ Her older sister won't include her
~ Her older sister will never include her or ever have fun with her again
~ There's nothing to do
~ Dad still hasn't put up her new shelves
~ She predicts Dad will never put up her new shelves
~ Everyone else has a friend over
~ She hasn't been outside all day
~ She doesn't want to go outside
~ There's nothing on t.v.
~ It stinks to be the middle child in the family
~ Her sister treats her like a baby {are you sensing a sister theme here?}
~ Why doesn't anyone ask her to babysit for money?
~ She'll be 18 and no one will still ask her to babysit because she has an older sister and so people always want her first
~ Mosquitoes find her especially tasty.

Just one of those days where the only thing to do is to follow your mom around, flopping into chairs and sighing loudly, and make sure she knows how miserable you are.

Oh, poor M. Tell her I'd GLADLY hire to babysit the little princess. A couple of hours of that and she'd probably never want to babysit again. She'd also be so glad that L gets all the paying jobs. Trust me, I babysit three kids all day for free. It's not that fun.

Haven't you gotten her something to read like the new Harry Potter perhaps? That'd keep her busy for a few hours at least...(she's probably already poured through it though).

I like the way you think! Both of the other kids have plowed through it but Maddy doesn't like HP. She doesn't like scary or fantasy :( especially not today.

It's the summer slumps/blahs/letdowns. I recognize it. I go from room to room trying to choose a project and end up doing half of everything. Heaven forbid I should actually complete a task. The sister thing is tricky, too. Although, I WAS the older sister, I remember feeling left out of some of the fun my older brother was having. His friends were too cool for me, as he made it very clear. The day his friend, your father, asked me out my stock went way up. This age difference between Lauren and Maddy is at its widest at this point in time. Would Lauren consider having Maddy go along on one of her baby-sitting gigs? Good intro for Maddy, since Lauren will not always be able to take the jobs. Love, CPB/Ma

Middle children have it especially rough! She's probably over her bad mood by now, but if not, you can always recommend cleaning out closets! (My mom used to try that on me...)
