Be it hereby resolved...

I do love resolutions. So much so that I am almost constantly making goals, constructing lists and plans, adjusting my lifelong self improvement campaign. I'm sure I'll continue to tweak those in a serious way but, for a happy change, I decided to make 2008 the year of awesome, fantastic resolutions, ones that I will look forward to and savor and rejoice in and that will make life more fun.

Have more parties
Say yes to spontaneous whims
Connect with others
Smile & listen
Be silly

I think I love you already, 2008.

Well put, my friend. THIS is one of the many reasons why I like you so much. Simple, smart, and sweet. YOU!

The best resolutions yet. The kind to be excited about. I also noticed L is reading To Kill a Mockingbird. I think I have discussed with you before that my nephew is named Atticus (you had a friend with a boy named the same maybe?) and that my brother's last name is Wintch. So that's Atticus Wintch vs. Atticus Finch. It still cracks me up--can't wait till that kid hit's middle school and his whole class reads the story. It'll make for good times I'm sure.

I love that list. So poignant and brief. It sounds like you do all of those things already though.

I love your New Year's resolutions. Sometimes I hate the self reprimanding defeat that can go along with them... but you have taken all that out.

"Have more parties" is the best resolution I have heard all year, granted it's only been three days, but I'd like to see someone come up with something better.

If I lived in your neck of the woods I would totally invite myself to your parties.

After getting your Christmas card I decided to visit your blog. Makes me feel shiny just knowing someone so smart, funny and talented. I told Bill today that my new year's resolutions would include "managing my time better." After reading yours, I'm definitely NOT going to aim for that!

Hi Alane! Good to hear from you, friend. Thanks for stopping by the blog.

Emily M--You're right...I have a friend who named his son Atticus. I was kind of jealous, since I adore the book. Lauren loved it, too. Atticus Wintch is quite a name :)

C Jane-- If you lived in my neck of the woods, you would totally be invited. But I would make you sing!
