Dear future Annie,

This is a letter of hope to the February-May Annie of any given year, something to cling to in the bitter dreary months when it feels like spring should come but it waits until June...those months when I question "why?why?WHY do we live in New England again?"...when I start looking through job listings in hopes of finding a great corporate law position for Greg in San Diego.  Or Washington DC. Or pretty much anywhere in the lower 44 states.

Hang in there, future (and, no doubt, depressed) Annie.  This is why you live here. Remember? (Well, this and the fact that it's where G has a job and we have set up our lives.)

Love, contented October Annie
^the center of town
^the church where Sam's preschool met

^Maddy's favorite lunch spot
^the town library, where Lauren loves to meet friends

^a fun Halloween decorated house
^one of my favorite trees, down the street from our house
LOVE this house (notice the Red Sox scoreboard above the porch? How great is that?)
^cemetery in the center of town

beautiful stone carving on the gravestone
^This is the house I drool over.
Our realtor said a crazy old lady lives there.
With goats. Inside. And piles of newspaper.
It recently got painted. Maybe they'll be selling?
(but, alas, I won't be buying...
you can get it and invite me over)

Speaking of which,
my friends and family,
shouldn't you be here, too?
You can always make plans for next year...
we love guests!

Beautiful pictures Annie! I really do miss that little town (and the lunch spot too). I was telling my sister just yesterday about funny experiences over in the cheese chop. Enjoy the fall!

sorry Annie, that's me, Emily, who posted above. Didn't realize the hubby and signed it. :)

and then I posted that twice, sorry. You are going to check your comments, be excited to see "Oooh, four already" and then the let down that they are all from the same bumbling blogger--my apologies . . .

Those make me miss Boston so much. I loved going to Helen's, and walking through the center of town. You truly live in the most picturesque city in the world. Even though it's very green here, the colors just aren't as vibrant. Lucky, lucky you!

Beautiful.
We were wishfully thinking we could Get All The Way Up There this past weekend, but it was just too much in too little time.
:(
Thanks for the pics--gorgeous!

That's it, I'm moving there! Do you have room in your house for me? Seriously, maybe we'll come up there from NYC for a day during our Thanksgiving trip. I need an Annie fix. I'll give you a call this week.

Wow Annie
Those pictures are really beautiful. You are so lucky living in such a fantastic place. I love all those wooden porches you have on your houses. I would love a house with a porch like that. Thanks for the guided tour of your lovely town.

PS You have been book tagged on my blog!

I gave myself the same kind of pep talks when we lived in MA. But then again that only lasted 4 years so what do I know?

I love the photos of the library and the favorite lunch spot. So beautiful.

This morning as I walked, or waddled (to be more accurate), I said a little prayer and mentioned to HF that I think He is very very wise in the way He handles Fall:

I would be very disgruntled at the end of summer and of the heat and of the ease and of the long days, EXCEPT it's just so darn beautiful that I kind of can't.

See, very wise.

I agree. October is the month we moved to the Northeast and I fall in love again every year.

GORGEOUS GORGEOUS photos! All suitable for framing.

oh so beautiful. thanks for sharing the autumn with me! my heart wants to be there. and, sadly, while i am moving to a land of sunshine there really, really won't be such beautiful colors to share...most people tell me there is great beauty in the desert--i will have to learn to love it!
