Hands of jazz
Wearing a sling on his injured arm has had its drawbacks for Sam.
As we were all in the kitchen getting ready for dinner, Sam said "Oh! you know what happened to me today?"
"No, what?"
"In school we had a performer come. At the end the lady called on me because she thought I had a question."
"Why did she think that?"
"Because I did jazz hands."
"What?" [laughing]
"Well everyone clapped at the end and I didn't want to be rude but since I only have one arm I can use, I just kinda shook one hand in the air. You know, jazz hands. It was so embarrassing. She thought I had an important question or something."
{We do lightly make fun of jazz hands now and then in my family...
maybe he overheard this?}
Why does this make me laugh so hard?

Only a boy with two sisters would know about jazz hands. He can come teach Hannah all about them. I'm afraid she may not learn unless she takes dance lessons her whole life. She does know how to make machine gun noises though. That's a skill she can take with her through life, for sure.
Well he cared enough to show his appreciation anyway. Jazz is one of the cooler dances for men I'm thinking.
i totally stalk your blog. just thought i'd let you know. and your son is hilarious... love the jazz hands!
Jess, You've made my day--I have a stalker!
Stie, you never know when good machine gun noise will come in handy. More often than jazz hands, I would think.
Thanks, Emily. That's true!
oops... i accidentally left a comment for you on another blog about san diego!! april probably thinks i'm crazy! anyhow- it depends on what you are up for, but i love: the san diego zoo (i posted about it a few weeks ago), the wild animal park, la jolla cove, the gaslamp district, and of course- the carlsbad outlet mall. that pretty much sends you to every part of san diego!
That is so funny. I just realized I hadn't commented on your last post. I got busy looking up all those songs I forgot to go back and comment. Anyway, thanks for all the music referrals!
Hahahaha!! This was great! My kids know nothing of Jazz hands. They are culturally deprived.
That is so funny Annie. I'm with Stie, a little feminine touch from the sisters can be a good thing. Those Mika boys were much more sensitive than my cannibalistic lot.
So polite and hilarious. Good combo.
Just popped by from Stie's place and am so glad I did. You have an adorable, genuine little guy. :-)
I actually don't know about Jazz hands either. I feel unskilled.
Okay, people, all of you need to see the great opus, Bring It On. It's a cheerleader movie with Kirsten Dunst. I can't remember if it is appropriate for children, but it features Jazz Hands. I'm sure your son didn't get it from there...but I did!
