Wicked weekend
***
~flashback music~
I originally thought I would drive
{yes, drive!
I had waited too late for good airfare}
the kids to Florida to visit Mickey.
We had hotel reservations and everything.
Then the 40 hours in the car
started making Florida sound
less like the Happiest Place on Earth
more like the furthest away.
So we made a quick spur-of-the-moment decision
{when I found 5 tickets to Wicked online}
to head down to NYC this weekend
for a quick one-day trip-let
***
I wish I had taken a picture of Sam
at the restaurant
when the gorgeous blond waitress
sat down next to him, put her arm around him,
and flirted.
Very rosy faced boy
with a wide grin.
Then he was picked not once
but twice to sing along with the
singing waiters.
Did I take a picture?
No. Shoot.

The girls especially loved the musical.
There were happy tears
& excited bouncings
& lots of recaps.

A map of Greg's travels
last week would make you suspect
he is spying on the Pope.
He spent two days in DC
in his shadow
and then we overlapped with him
in NYC (but no sightings except the
cordoned off streets).

That's all I've got for now.
Am having a bit of a blog drought.
A case of bloggerblock identity crisis.
A blog fast.

I would take a musical over Disney any day of the week! Lucky kids...
I'm with Gabi. Disney can always wait. What a fun spur of the moment trip.
I can just imagine Sam's awkward, rosy faced smile. We went to a Moroccan restaurant just after my sister was married. The belly dancer was right in the face of my new brother-in-law. He was quite embarrassed to say the least.
Lucky ducks.
What fun--WICKED is the best!
sounds like a great time had by all - my 10 year old daughter and I saw Wicked 2 years ago and we both LOVED it!
I think if I asked my daughter if she wanted to go to NYC or to Disney, I think it would be a hard decision for her, but I think NYC would win out - although for us, driving to Disney is closer than driving to NYC (and my boys would pick Disney hands down, unless we could go root for the Red Sox at Yankee stadium!)
Yay! I'm so glad you had a good little mini-trip during spring break. The sunshine and clear skies in the picture look like the weather was on your side, too. And Wicked? I'd take that any day over Disney. Heaven.
Looks like a perfect getaway to me!
I had to laugh at your "blog fast" comment as I used the same phrase on my post last night and thought myself so original and witty. Ha ha. But to have the same thought as my dear friend Annie is an honor indeed!
I can't get those songs out of my head...Loathing...Popular...Changed For Good! Glad you had a good trip!
I haven't even seen Wicked but I know all the words to Popular. I bet your kids will remember this trip!
Oh, to be in NYC in the spring! I dream and dream. I would ALMOST kill (it would depend on the killee) to come and see the new South Pacific, with Kelli O'Hara and the original Fabrizio from Light in the Piazza as Lt. Cable. I am socking away money like mad, and I just may do it in June. It looked to me like SP tickets for May (the good ones) are gone. I asked my dad if I could take him with me, and he sadly declined. What a surprise! Mr. Broadway. But he was grateful for the thought. He says that those kinds of trips are probably not going to work for him anymore, due to his age, 89, and the hustle and bustle of NYC, etc. that cause confusion and anxiety. But I can still work on it.
Thanks for the pictures and the wonderful thought that you were in NYC enjoying that fab city. It's the next best thing to being there. Love, Ma
