Magnificent

weekend.
Thanks for coming, friends.

Photobucket
Jen, me, Deirdre, Vicki (behind the camera) at Burdick's Chocolate in HarvardSquare (fantastic truffles and decadent hot chocolate). Such a beautiful day. Or days. I love showing people around Boston and this weekend the city put on her best weather and represented well (not a city of blinding lights, but almost). Good food, a bit of sightseeing, great chats. It was a great chance to get together and do what friends do: show up, support + love, laugh, scheme, and be serious and indignant and silly at all the right moments. I feel refilled + replenished and hope they do too.

Anyway...

but it was worth it.

I wasn't really prepared for how emotional an experience it would be. U2 has provided the soundtrack for a lot of my life. So many images came flooding back to me: moments of longing, joy, heartbreak, memories both manic and melancholy. There were some great melodies woven into the setlist. They combined One + Amazing Grace, added Blackbird to Beautiful Day, and a sing-along Stand by Me that got me all teary. It was such a great night*. Can't wait until next time, whenever that is. (The other three are heading to Vegas in October to see them again, the luckies.)

Now to get back to real life...

p.s. If you go (or are planning on it) get general admission tickets on the floor. I loved our seats--and they were on the 30th row so pretty good!--but if I did it again I would sacrifice sitting for being up close at the band's feet.

That looks like a fantastic weekend. I absolutely adore U2. We saw them in Minneapolis. I wish we were seeing them live again on this tour. They truly are an amazing musical experience.

I'd love to see U2 in concert someday--somewhere--somehow. My friends were in your neck of the woods for the concert Sunday night--wish I could have stowed away in their luggage.

Glad you had such a nice time!

Count me in next time!!! Joshua Tree was my first BIG concert & the first time I smelled a "funny" cigarette. Heading down to the House of Blues tonight to see Matt Kearney. Not as big but good none the less.

I read this yesterday and have thought about it several times since so here I am to leave a message. I think it is awesome that you had so much fun with your GFs. And, I usually have emotional experiences at concerts too.

We had a GREAT weekend. There is nothing like the mix of amazing friends and a fabulous concert. Annie is great host (as is the rest of her family)! Many, many thanks! - Deirdre
P.S. Go to Burdick's!

A few years ago, the company that does my husband's payroll bought out the sky box for the U2 concert and invited the business owners. I hadn't ever really been a huge fan and I was nervous about leaving my baby, but I ended up going and truly, it was a magical night. I look back on it with great fondness.

Music really gets at my core too.

I don't have any family in Logan but I do have a dear friend who lives there. Can you believe I've never been to Logan.
