Making grey lemonade

Print by John Kenn

Yesterday's cozy has become today's dreary. Not only is it rainy and blah, I'm mourning a bit over a trip-that-didn't-happen to the big city this weekend. I think this calls for a list.

Things to do on a dreary day like today:

Take a nap at 10 a.m.

Pick up fresh flowers at Trader Joe's

Read

Turn on all the lamps in the house

Start the weekend early with a movie marathon

Laugh at old yearbooks

Smile at Maddy's birthday Amazon wishlist

Bake + sing + tapdance in the kitchen

Wear red shoes

Go get a McDonald's diet coke (crushed ice, big straw)

Think about Thanksgiving plans

Order fun stamps from USPS

Order prints of lots of computer-trapped photos

Read Lauren's letters of recommendation for college apps

Decide everyone should get affirming letters of recommendation now and then

Take deep deep breaths

imagine I'm here^

Or all of the above.

Might I also suggest the gladiolas from Whole Foods....?(my personal go-to Cozy Place)
Note to self: get more lamps

You're having a better day than me so far. :)

Okay, a few things. Number one...I don't have a Trader Joe's, which is a never-ending source of frustration and sadness for me. Secondly, a McDonald's Diet Coke is one of my most favorite things in the whole world (closely seconded only by a Sonic Diet Coke with lime. Do you have Sonic?)

Are we going to have a blogger meet-up IRL? How about Women's Conference? I'm sure I have an old denim jumper somewhere.

Oo, Jen, good call. Whole Foods is a sensory field trip for sure.

And Ellen, I think I should clarify that many of these were ideas rather than accomplishments. So in my imagination I had an awesome day already. I do have on red shoes, though. And have a McD DC in front of me.

Sarah, name the time and place (which, I guess you just did!). I'm there.

The last two days have been miserable but the sun just came out and things are looking up. Flowers and Diet Coke sounds like a plan.

Me, too, sista friend. Sadder than you can know. :-(

We had some grey lemonade going on in our neck of the woods. Your solutions sound just dreamy. If only I'd read this post sooner, day would definitely have been less grey. Thank goodness it's tomorrow.

Annie - where do you find all this wonderful art? One of the reasons I love your blog (besides the great writing) is the beautiful pictures you post.
