Heard at the JiffyLube
Clerk: Would you like to donate $3 to the "Matthew's Fight for Sight" campaign?
Patron: Well, who is he?
Clerk: What?
Patron: Who's Matthew? If I'm supposed to help him, don't I get to know who he is?
Clerk: Hmmm (studiously examining the flyer)...well...let's see here...
Patron: I mean, is he from around here? Is that why you're doing this?
Clerk: (frantically scanning the flyer) Um. This doesn't really say. Quite often it's for people in Boston (she says hopefully). Sometimes. He might be from around here (defeated).
Patron: No, thank you, I don't think so (a little too smug and victoriously).

Hahaha! That cracked me up...I always feel so guilty when they ask me for extra money.
That is too funny. You know at every store there is like five of those jars asking for help. It'd be nice to actually know a little something about the people we're asked to donate to.
That is so great. I wish I had the guts to say something like that. The poor clerk though probably hates having to ask everyone too.
I should add that this wasn't me and I *did* give the $3, partly because I felt so bad for the clerk who had to ask everyone about it. I just had never heard anyone question it quite so thoroughly!
